Podcast: Pennsylvania Senate Primary Preview - The Establishment Comes for John Fetterman
Here’s the audio podcast version of our subscriber=exclusive episode on the Pennsylvania Senate primary:
The Democratic Party establishment may have screwed themselves by backing the wrong establishment shill to sink populist progressive John Fetterman.
Right-wing Democrat Conor Lamb seems to be DOA, and Malcolm Kenyatta is down at just 2% in the polls. The party bosses could have anointed Kenyatta, a young party loyalist who’d have likely swept the populous and all-important southeastern portion of the state which contains the large city of Philadelphia had he been bolstered by establishment support. In this case, Fetterman and Lamb likely would have split the rest of the state, increasing Kenyatta’s chances of victory and staving off a Fetterman win.
Instead, Democrats tried for an even more conservative candidate in Lamb, who seems unable to gain traction despite several endorsements from PA party leadership and lots of super PAC money behind him.
