Hi everyone,
Our film club continues TONIGHT at 8pm ET.
Last minute change in plans Dissidents. Our presentation of the Jimmy Stewart classic, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, has been postponed so that we can instead showcase Union, which covers the successful organizing drive of Chris Smalls and the Amazon Labor Union at a Staten Island Warehouse. This will be an interactive screening with running commentary.
Because of its content and Amazon’s grip on the industry, no film distributor wants to touch this film, lest they incur the wrath of Bezos the Clown. Union won an award at Sundance and has garnered rave reviews, but the long reach of Amazon Studios has forced this one underground. As a result, the filmmakers have made the film available for free for a limited time, and so we thought this would be a great opportunity to get its message out.
