Fantastic episode- thanks! A few thoughts for what it’s worth:
- progressives very often just shut down opposing views by yelling, gluing themselves to disrupt traffic etc. When it comes to free speech, it seems a significant number don’t want to play on an even playing field with same rules applying to both sides.
3. I think the test of one’s own commitment to free speech is the degree to which you will defend the right of free speech for those with whom you disagree.
4. As a Republican, had I known how we were being used by Bush/Cheney et al- I wouldn’t have supported them. Even my husband who served under Bush during Cold War, Iraq, Afghanistan is rethinking his own support of that administration because the manipulation used has become so clear.
5. I think it was Russ who said that it was the rise of the Populist right (the “Steve Bannonization”) of the party that put the Republicans in this situation. Can’t you see the exact same thing on the left? What you see as hopeful (the rise of dissidents with regard to the Free Palestine movement,) the Socialist Democrat movement are beginning to be put down by the same forces which put are still trying to put down the America First right. It’s the same globalist cabal that is exploiting every possible opportunity (and possibly creating some opportunities) to pit Americans against each other. Matt pointed out the censorship of many different views. We have to unite in this cause.
6. I’m really happy to be finding important discussions here on Due Dissidence with those I disagree on many issues, but my frustration is that you don’t seem to see your predicament in the same camp as America First.
7. Neither of our political positions are helpful to the globalist. It’s so important to understand this. We are ALL just being used.
8. We, each if us, must call our our own side for abandoning the very Western values they claim to uphold in dealing with ALL citizens.
9. I think it would be very beneficial for us all to really reach back and look at how our own “side” has used anti-Western values to squelch those with whom we disagree.
10. How about an exercise? You give me a list of historical issues/events you think have been unfairly portrayed in right wing circles and I’ll give you the same list to consider. I think it should be at least 3-4 years old, so that more information has come to light to fairly assess these narratives. Thoughts?
As I re-read what I wrote, I have become uncomfortable with boxing in of myself or anyone else.
The panel of Democrats can be accurately described as the English language version of Roland Freisler’s Volksgerichtshof, or a good allusion to the Court of the Queen and King of Hearts ruling on the theft of tarts.
